As written in my last blog entry, i am preparing a citrix metaframe installation of the notes 6.5.3 client supporting 14 languages with extensively reduced "local" datavolume.

during comparing two language versions i find

5 dll's which seem to be language specific

lasn14xx.dll
lasn22xx.dll
nhttprs_xx.dll
nsn50xx.dll
nkn50xx.dll

where xx stands for the languagecode like
de,es,sv and so on.

does anybody know what these dll's are for and how and when they are used by the client?

and a second question:

has anybody out there some experience in hosting dictionaries in a network share?

using the client notes.ini variable
spell_dir=<sharename>
to point to this share??

Gravatar Image1 - Having files on a network share is something I can NEVER recommend. It is not a supported configuration and I have seen enough customers having problems with this configuration. Why do you need to change this, are you running out of diskspace on the citrix server?

Gravatar Image2 - Chris,

yes of course we are trying to reduce the homedirectory sizes. We would like to offer 14 dicfiles to 6000 users. Distributing all of these to all users homedirectories costs alot of money, which the customer would like to save if possible. Roaming users with notes data directories isnt a supported configuration either, but i know also a lot of customers having such configs. Back in 1999 Deutsche Bahn had 50.000 Seats in this configuration, and the setup was done by Lotus Consulting...

Gravatar Image3 - What about placing the dictionary files in the program directory?
If you do not set the spell_dir parameter, Notes first looks into the program dir, then in the data directory.

Gravatar Image4 - chris,

thanks, that's a good idea. we will do that. on the other hand the parameter spell_dir seems a little bit meaningless....
