Installing Plugins in Notes 8
Yesterday I wanted to manually install the is-phone plugin from iscoord AG into my Notes 8 Client. You can find a lot of hints in blogs and forums on howto make the menuitem File---Application---Install visible in the Notes 8 Client:
"You must first enable the update/install UI using this preference:
Edit
com.ibm.notes.branding/enable.update.ui=true"
You can find some forum entries either saying that this doesn't help.
If you are in a Notes/Domino 8 Infrastructure, and your client gets desktop settings via Policies from a Domino 8 Server, watchout for this desktop setting:
Desktop settings -- Basics -- Provisioning -- Allow User initiated updates
If you enable that, it works fine. And by the way the is-phone plugin seems to be really nice and handy. Up to now you can call all the peple from your sametime buddylist, at least all who have valid phonenumbers in their profiles. There is an option to do LDAP lookups too. I can't await the version for 8.0.1 which should/could work with live text! Connecting is-phone to my sipgate account was straightforward.

UPGRADE INFORMATION:
If you make an upgrade, please be sure that you don't have the "com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.status.ext_7.5.1.jar" in your .......Lotus\Notes\Data\workspace\applications\eclipse\plugins directory (delete this file if you are on Notes 8.0.1!).
There is no more need for copying the is-phone dll files in windows\system32 directory. Following files needs to be removed from the system32 directory:

is.phone.dll
libmsilbc.dll
libmsvideostitcher.dll
libtheora.dll
mediastreamer2.dll
oRTP.dll
