Bad day for Mac Notes users

The searching capability is one of the strengths of the Notes client. Full-text index over a hugh database and searching within attached documents is what customers like and what they use. For me it's one of the core functionalities and the one all the Outlook users envy.
And when I installed the beta 2 of Notes 8.5 on my Mac and recognized the trouble with searching attached documents, I was sure IBM will fix this until the final release. But it seems they won't: "It will be fixed in 9."

The Notes client on Mac won't have working searching capabilities for attachments on local replica's until version 9! There's only one workaround: searching on server replica's will work also from a Mac client. Disappointing.

Gravatar Image1 - "Disappointing". Ditto... Especially given that this is functionality that worked previously and for which the menus have always been present.

I have to say, I can't believe that v9 was the answer - this must be escalated to make it into 8.5.1 at the latest.

Gravatar Image2 - That is so sad! Searching is a core function of Notes Emoticon
So i still have to wait with a switch on my business notebook...
IMHO it is not acceptable at all!

Gravatar Image3 - Well, I switched last year and I'm very confident. Except with Notes. I really hoped 8.5 will fix that, but now I'm scared...

The notes client on Mac has only recently become usable. Not functional yet, by a long stretch.

I just dump all me databases on the servers, and search them there.

My expectations are lower than a toilet door.

Gravatar Image5 - Bill, this is an interesting strategy. Lower your expectations and the chance to be positively surprised is much higher Emoticon
